Geoffrey Chaucer (sinh khoảng năm 1343 tại London, Anh – mất ngày 25/10/1400 tại London, Anh) là nhà thơ, nhà văn và công chức người Anh, thường được xem là một trong những người đặt nền móng cho văn học Anh. Ông nổi tiếng nhất với “The Canterbury Tales”, tập truyện kể về một nhóm người hành hương cùng kể chuyện trên đường đến Canterbury. Tác phẩm phản ánh rộng rãi đời sống, tầng lớp xã hội và tư tưởng của nước Anh thời Trung Cổ. Chaucer là nhà văn đầu tiên được an táng tại Poets’ Corner trong Tu viện Westminster, nơi sau này trở thành khu tưởng niệm nhiều văn nhân Anh.
